Products for my mature, dry skin

mature skin

beautiful mature skin

I am 61 years old.

I consider my skin dry.

I use the glycolic peels already, and I want to purchase other products, but am confused as to what to get.

Would you recommend this –

Gel cleaner

Hydra Essence Toner

Herbal moisture creme

Liquid silk

D20 mist spray

I am just confused as to which moisturizer, etc. to get. I also saw where you have Pro-Med retinal face cream…..

Is this a moisturizer so you wouldn’t use herbal moisture creme?

I want to start (slowly) to try your other products. Can you help me select which to start out with?

I saw face firming complex – but would I use that with moisturizer also?

Please, just send me any info on “how to get started” with the “switch” to your products.

I have clear skin, olive complexion. Looks a lot younger than the 61 years and I would like to keep it that way.

Thanks for your time.

Thank you for your recent interest in our products! You are correct in your suggestions. I would recommend the Arnica Facial Wash for a creamy cleanser if you prefer a more gentle cleanser for mature, dry skin. If you prefer an oil-free cleanser, the Glyco-lactic Gel Cleanser is a popular one for all skin types. This also doubles as a body wash if you find it too drying for your face. Hydra Essence toner is an excellent hydrator for sensitive, dry skin. I am in my early forties and I love the Herbal Moisture Creme as a night treatment as I am not overly dry. You could use this creme day and night, followed by the Liquid Silk for the ultimate in hydration. The Liquid Silk is rich in pure oil extracts, and brings about a rosy, healthy glow to the skin as it hydrates and rejuvenates.

The Pro-Med Face Cream is more of a treatment than the Herbal Moisture. It contains the Alpha/Beta Hydroxy acids which help to reduce the signs of aging, such as fine lines, sun/aging spots, and adds to a youthful, more even tone to the skin. The Face Firming works much in the same way as this, an anti-aging treatment. I would recommend the Liquid Silk as a must, because it is inter-changeable with any of our products. Then it would be up to you if you want more hydration at night, you could use the Pro-Med Face Cream.

As for the D2O Mist, this is a wonderful, throughout-the-day hydrator. It is especially good for dry climates and and for use when you travel by airplane. You can’t go wrong with any of these products. For making the switch, you may want to start with the cleanser, toner and choose a moisturizer plus the Liquid Silk and you’re set!

You describe your skin as looking younger than your 61 years…great for you! Any of these products will help you maintain and improve on that. I am happy to help, and hope some of these suggestions will direct you on your purchase. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need further assistance.

Which mineral shade for my skintone

mineral makeup jars

I have light skin (not bronzed) with light brown eyes and light brown hair. What shade would be the best for me as foundation: Cashmere or Barely there? My skin is more warm toned, I think.  Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your recent interest in our products! Based on what you have described your skin tone to be, your best bet would be to try our Cashmere base. Our mineral makeup is especially formulated for those with sensitive and/or reactive skin types.  We offer all of our loose base shades in easy to use, try-me size 2 gram shaker jars. These are a great way to try one or two shades for the first time and custom blend the shades together for a more perfect match to your skin tone.  Find a color chart below to help decide which shade is best for you.  We are always glad to help. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

PINK/COOL/RUDDY: If your skin is light with cool, pink, or ruddy (ruddy is deep pink/red) undertones, the shades for you to choose from are: Cashmere (not for ruddy), Cool Beige (great for ruddy), Sea Shell (listed in order of lightest to darkest)

NEUTRAL: If your skin is very light with no pink or minimal pink, you will want Barely There. However, if it is very light but with a lot of pink or red, you will want Cashmere or Cool Beige (for red or ruddy, Cool Beige will look the most natural).

If your skin is very fair you will want Barely There (a neutral shade)

If your skin is light with pink or cool undertones you will want Cool Beige

OLIVE/YELLOW/GOLDEN: If your skin is light with Olive/Yellow/Golden undertones, you will want Oatmeal.

If your skin is in between light and medium, with neutral or warm tones, you will want Cashmere

If your skin is medium with Olive/Yellow/Golden Undertones you will want Canvas.

If your skin is darker than medium, but not ethnic, you will want Sand Dune. Very tanned skin or Asians can wear Sand Dune. It is a dark deep tan color.

Cool: If your skin is medium with cool tones you will want Seashell or Cocoa.

Dark: If your skin is ethnic and medium brown to dark your color selections are: Cocoa (cool), Sand Dune (warm), Caramel (warm), Espresso (neutral). (listed in order of lightest to darkest)

Mineral formulas

Rosacea controlled

Rosacea controlled

I would like to know/what is difference from say bare minerals and the mineral formulas now sold at drug store? I have rosacea and even these products make it flare.

Looking for something that will work and not irritate

Thank you for your recent interest in our products! There are so many mineral makeup formulas out there, you really need to do some research, especially since you stated you have rosacea. When you’re looking at mineral makeup either online or in the stores, make sure you read the ingredients before anything else. The major difference are the ingredients used; are they beneficial for the skin, or simply “fillers”. We recommend our mineral makeup for our post-laser clients, those with rosacea, and people who want a wonderful, natural cover makeup. As you see on our website, our loose mineral foundation contains ingredients such as green tea extract and vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) known for its antioxidant and moisturizing properties.

Our mineral makeup provides a luxurious coverage, with the benefits of SPF 15-17, although we do recommend using a sunscreen as well. We offer a 2 gram trial size makeup, and this is the best way to try our product. Most of our first-time clients choose 1 or 2 shades to try. This helps to customize a perfect shade for your skin tone. As you will see by reading through our testimonials, we have many sensitive clients that truly love our makeup. There will, of course, be those who are ultra-sensitive to our ingredients, but really the only way to tell is to give us a try!

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance. You will also find an abundance of information on our website. Thank you again and have a Happy New Year!

60 years old with sensitve skin that seems to break out

older woman

older woman

I am 60 years old with sensitve skin that seems to break out from a lot of products that I have used. I am interested in getting a product that will help reduce lines in the face as well as providing collagen, as well as giving an even skin color as well as giving moisture to the face. so in looking at products, I thought I needed to have the ingredients of Vit. C, Hydroquinine or glycolic acid antioxidants and whatever else will help the skin. I do not use a peel at this ime but feel that I ned to do so. Is there any one product or product line that will help with these thoughts and what products would you reccommend.

Thank you for your recent interest in our products! Based on the information you have told me, I will recommend the Pro-Med Retinol Face Cream, a light, rapidly absorbed sheer cream with a unique combination of high potency levels of Retinol, Vitamins E & C, Alpha/Beta Hydroxy Acids and natural Squalane. Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate, Retinol) and Vitamin C encourage new collagen formation. Pair it with the Pro-Med Retinol Eye Cream, and you are on your way to smoother, softer, more hydrated skin!

As you do not currently use a peel, I would recommend our Microdermabrasion Peel to start with. This is available on it’s own, or in a couple of different kits. Some of the kits have a handy brush set, and some include a wonderful, soothing Willowherb Serum. You cannot go wrong with either of these products. Eventually, you may want to add the glycolic acid peel into your routine. I would say to start with a 30% Glycolic Acid Peel. This product is also available in either a kit form, or on it’s own.

Please find additional information for each of these products on the website, or if you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me during our business hours of 9AM-5PM EST, Monday through Friday. I will be happy to help! Happy New Year!

3 Steps To Blackhead Prevention

Washing FaceWoman washes her faceLarger resolution image available here: .. People / Portraits / Female

If you are like the rest of the people on this planet, you probably have more than a few blackheads that need removing from your skin. Squeezing and picking is not the answer, though! When you pick at or squeeze your blemishes, you cause damage to your skin – sometimes in the form of irreversible scars. You can use a proven method to remove blackheads that will leave your skin clear and smooth with a little bit of work and a consistent cleansing routine. You also have to work to prevent new blackheads from forming.

Keep reading for 3 Steps To Prevent Blackheads:

Step 1 – Cleanse Your Skin

Choose a quality cleansing product such as Skin Rx’s Arnica Facial Wash to wash away all of the dirt and impurities on your skin.

Step 2 – Use an Oil Control Product

After cleansing your skin, it is important to use a product which eliminates excess oil which can lead to additional blackheads. A good oil control product will remove excess oil without causing dryness. Skin Rx offers a great oil control product called Acne and Oil Control Gel which works to reduce oil production while also exfoliating and hydrating the skin.

Step 3 – Use an Acne Spot Treatment

Even after cleansing and removing excess oil, you may still have some trouble spots that need a bit of extra attention. To get rid of current blemishes, try Skin Rx’s Medicated Acne Spot Treatment which is hypoallergenic and is made to get rid of acne bacteria, reduce oil production, clear up skin redness, and quickly clear acne blemishes without irritation or over-drying.

When you make it a goal to clear up your skin – stick with it! A consistent routine is the most proven method to clear up acne and prevent new blackheads and blemishes.

Tell Your Blackheads Who is Boss!

Chris Peterson from Family Guy with a giant zit

Remember what happened to Chris on Family Guy when he got a huge zit? He had to battle it to the death so that it could no longer control his life. Unless you want your blackheads to get out of control – you have to take action to get rid of them now!

Okay – your blackheads may not actually talk to you and tell you to do evil things, but who can think rationally when your skin looks so terrible? Blackheads are a very common and stubborn problem for both adolescents and adults and it takes time and a consistent skin routine to clear them up completely.

Blackheads, or “open comedones”, are follicles which have a wider opening than normal follicles. When these follicles become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells, a chemical reaction happens which gives them a black appearance. Improper cleansing is a major cause of blackheads along with the use of facial products which contain oil.

Skin Rx Clinic recommends Extractor Kit #1 which contains a Double Loop Extractor Tool and Antibacterial Wipes or the Wire Extractor which can help you remove blackheads from your skin without scarring or causing more pimples!

Please take our advice and treat your blackheads. We really don’t need a bunch of crazy people walking around blaming their misdeeds on their bad skin!

Makeup question for fair skin

Can you tell me which liquid would look right on fair skin with neutral to cool undertones, I have pink to red cheeks and chin in the summertime, but I would wear the liquid in the winter?

Thank you for your recent inquiry into our liquid mineral makeup.  Either Porcelain or Cream Beige shades would look best on your skintone.  This makeup is formulated to apply as a liquid, but set as a mineral powder, and also protects as well as hydrates the skin.

Little hard white things deep into my skin

QUESTION:  I need something for my “pearls”. I do not know the correct name- they are deep into my skin- little hard white things- they are not pimples or black heads, but just as ugly- I have a few of them now- I used to get facials routinely and she would remove them. What do you recommend?

The “pearls”, as you have referred to them, are actually called milia.  (Go to  this link) under Kits & Tools at the top of the home page, you will find two extractor kits.  I personally prefer the #2 Kit as it contains the double loop extractor.  I find this easier to use and is one of our best sellers.  Because the milia are actually “closed” over, you need the lancets, which are of very fine grade and do not damage the skin when used properly, to “lance” or “open” the pocket.  Once you have done this, you will use the extractor to release the milia.  And of course you always want to help prevent risk of infection by following up with the antiseptic towelettes.  I find these to be very useful, and because they are individually wrapped, I toss a few in my handbag for on-the-go help.
This is generally something that is done by a facial specialist, as you say, but with some patience and practice, is quite achievable on your own.  Hope you find this information helpful.  Glad you stopped by the site.  Please do not hesitate to contact us for further assistance or questions.  Have a great day!

It is highly advised that you should also consult your dermatologist for proper use of these quality tools. However, here we can give you simple technique to use comedone extractor. Pesky blackhead is a mixture of dead skin cells, oil and bacteria that builds up inside our skin’s pores. Use the same tools as professional aesthetician or dermatologist use to extract blackheads, pimples & clogged pores. They can be exterminated by using a quality professional comedone extractor.

First, lay a warm, wet wash cloth on your face for a few minutes. After a shower is an ideal time to extract. Steaming the face or using a hot water compress is strongly recommended to help soften comedones. This will make them much easier to remove. When you’re ready to begin the extraction process lay the looped side on top of the blackhead – basically encircling this area with the loop. Apply slow and even pressure lightly until the trapped sebum is forced out of the follicle. The blackhead — oil and all — will ooze up and out of the pore. Do not continue to attempt the extraction if the trapped sebum is not released easily. Applying too much force can cause infection and scarring. When piercing a whitehead with lancet (Pointed end), wait until the whitehead breaks open, then gently roll the tool over the whitehead. Be sure to disinfect the area when finished and clean your tool off with alcohol or hot water. A deep, cystic pimple should not be opened with the lancet. When dealing with deep acne, it’s best to visit a dermatologist. A doctor may use a sterile needle, but only after a pustule has formed. Additional treatments depend on the severity of the acne.

Remember Never use fingers or suction guns for removing blackheads, that may aggravate skin infections.

It is Never Too Early to Start Acne Prevention

baby-acneYes, babies can get acne. No, it is not the same condition that will ruin their first day of middle school years later. But if you are old enough to start worrying about zits, you are old enough to take some preventative measures. Start with a good mild face wash, used regularly. If nothing else, you will put Mom in a state of shock!

Bacteria does not use contraception

acne bacteria
acne bacteria

Which leaves population control up to you. Benzoyl peroxide is considered the most effective over-the-counter medication for acne. It reduces the numbers of the P. acnes bacteria by taking the environment one step beyond inhospitable—to truly lethal. Benzoyl peroxide breaks down in contact with skin, releasing oxygen which kills the anaerobic (active in the absence of oxygen) P. acnes bacteria. And while P. acnes has been shown to develop resistance to some antibiotics, it cannot form resistance to this particular path of antibacterial action. Benzoyl peroxide also dissolves keratin—a protein that can block pores. Skin RX Clinic Treatments Follow the Science

At Skin RX Clinic, we’ve developed products that address the biological process of acne development, to treat breakouts quickly and safely and prevent reoccurrences. We know the importance of using a three-pronged approach to acne skin care—daily cleaning, regular exfoliation and bacterial population control. Our four-piece daily cleaning and treatment kit, the Acne Control System, is gentle, even to sensitive skin, while removing surface oil and debris and controlling excess sebum. It includes an advanced sunscreen, which is very important whenever an acne regime is being followed, to counter the tendency of most acne treatments to increase solar sensitivity. SkinRX Clinic’s 15% Smoothing Gel offers deep cleaning and exfoliation as an effective-strength all-day or all-night glycolic acid treatment, or as a series of glycolic acid peels for those with sensitive skin. The End-Zit mask is a therapeutic, professional-strength product that contains materials which draw impurities and oils away from the skin without stripping moisture. Our two strengths of the effective medication Benzoyl Peroxide fight bacteria while tailoring treatment to your skin’s sensitivity and the severity of acne problems.

Bacterial overgrowth is the enemy. The severity of acne ranges from papules—small pink bumps that can be tender—all the way to cysts— the deep, painful pus-filled pimples that can cause scarring. The more bacteria, the worse the problem. So the goal of treatment is to minimize the damage by minimizing bacterial growth.

Bacteria love a ‘messy’ environment. Anything that can block pore openings and impede free flow contributes to clogging and breakouts. That makes regular and thorough removal of surface oil, dead skin cells and make-up critical to prevention and treatment. However, harsh cleaners or determined scrubbing can irritate skin, increase inflammation and make acne worse (just like picking at pimples). The healthiest regimen combines gentle but effective daily cleaning and regular exfoliation through glycolic peels or microdermabrasion.
