30% Glycolic Acid “At Home” Chemical Skin Peel
30% Glycolic Peel
I have been using the 15% Glycolic Smoothing Gel for three months. I use it almost every other day – applying it for about 5-10 minutes or until it stings, washing off with cold water and then following with moisturizer only. I have become totally addicted to the smoothing gel! My skin looks the best it has in 7 years and put into check my stress-induced adult acne.
For whatever reason, the Glycolic peel still kind of scared me. But after three months of the smoothing gel, I was ready to try the 30% buffered Glycolic peel. It was easy as pie! I left the peel on for 10 minutes and my skin tolerated the peel just as well as the smoothing gel. The feeling was much like the smoothing gel: a kind of stinging/irritation sensation that was more itchy than painful. My face turned pink afterward for about two hours, but that was the only evidence that I had done the peel.
The next morning, I looked in the mirror and forgot that I had done the peel the day before. I looked completely normal; there were no signs of the peel! My skin looked good and healthy the next day. When I walked the dog in the morning, I had sunblock on but definitely felt some sensitivity in the sun. I avoided the sun all day. That night, I had a little bit of peeling. There seemed to be a few bumps on the skin that were forming under the dead skin. So, I used the Glycolic Facial Polish to gently exfoliate the peeling skin, encourage the Glycolic effects and hydrate.
On day three (Wed), I was completely back to normal. I used the 15% smoothing gel that night. Tara suggested I use the 30% Glycolic Peel twice per week as a regimen. That is totally doable. The 30% Glycolic Peel was not a big deal at all. My skin was fully prepared. I will do the 40% peel next.
