Sun Damage Makes You Look Old!

Dang Georgio – ever heard of sunscreen?! Sun damage is caused by over exposure to harmful UV rays and repeatedly getting a sunburn. Though we all want to look good, and sometimes this means looking tan as opposed to looking pale, it is important to enjoy the sun in moderation and with the right sun protection. If your skin has been sunburned before, you are more at risk for even worse sun damage next time than someone who has never been sunburned. The damage from sun to our skin is cumulative – the more sunburns you get, the more damaged your skin becomes over time. To minimize sunburn and sun damage, follow these tips:
  1. Avoid the afternoon sun. UV rays are more harsh during the hours of 10am to 4pm.
  2. Take Cover. Wear protective clothing if you will be out in the sun for long periods of time like long sleeved shirts and wide-brimmed hats.
  3. Protect your skin with a sunscreen that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Skin Rx recommends Advanced Protection SPF 30.
Don’t take your youth for granted! Protect your skin and your youthful appearance for as long as you can – you will be glad you did when you are old and you look younger than all of your friends. We just wish someone would have told Georgio Armani about sunscreen back in his day…
