How Does Stress Affect Sensitive Skin?

Tiffany Holley
Stress can take a toll on sensitive skin in many different ways and can even trigger flare-ups of certain skin conditions including rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and acne. If you have allergic conditions like hives, these can be exacerbated with excessive stress and those with acne can experience more persistent breakouts and inflammation. Especially for people with sensitive skin, considerable amounts of stress can wreak havoc on one’s complexion. As if you don’t already have enough to deal with, right?! Stress has been shown to increase the levels of cortisol in the body, a hormone which increases oil production and can ultimately lead to oily skin with clogged pores and acne. Scientific research has also shown that stress can slow the healing process of the skin. The negative effect stress can have on the barrier function of the skin results in excess water loss which inhibits your skin’s ability to repair itself after it has been injured. What can you do to combat the effects of stress on your sensitive skin? Besides trying to lower your stress levels, try these products suggested by Skin Rx: End-Zit Mask – This mask removes dirt and excess oil while maintaining the perfect pH balance of the skin. Limu Facial Cleanser – Marine algae, aloe, and other ingredients are combined to create a non-irritating facial cleanser to gently remove surface debris and makeup. RosaPlex Skin Serum – Awarded Skincare Innovation of the Year, this calming serum soothes and hydrates the skin and combats effects of environmental factors and other irritants.

What are the symptoms of Rosacea?

Tiffany Holley
If you are searching to find out what the symptoms of Rosacea are to find out if you may have this condition – you are in the right place and our team of skin care experts is here to help! Rosacea can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, so it is a good idea to visit a doctor or dermatologist if you find you have one or more of these symptoms. The following symptoms are common in people with Rosacea: Facial Redness – As Rosacea begins to develop, facial redness, especially on the cheeks, will be noticeable for lingering periods of time just like sunburn. The redness may also be on the forehead, nose, and chin. Things which may trigger the facial redness include sun exposure and alcohol consumption. Bumps and Pimples – When the facial redness is noticed, you may also see or feel bumps or pimples within the red areas or on the outer edges. The bumps are round and red, and are unlike acne pimples known as whiteheads and blackheads. Skin Thickening – Skin thickening will happen most often on the nose of people with Rosacea, and most commonly on men with the condition. This is caused by excess tissue forming. Eye Irritation – About half of the people who suffer from Rosacea will experience some form of eye irritation. This may include redness or dryness, pink eye, burning, crusty mucus, tearing up, or a feeling like there is sand or dirt in your eye. If you have been diagnosed with Rosacea and you are looking for the right skin care products to care for your skin type, Skin Rx suggests the following Rosacea skin care products: Arnica Facial Wash – The perfect facial wash for people with Rosacea. It is mild and completely free from dyes, perfumes, oil, and alcohols - which means nothing to irritate your skin. Contains Arnica extract and aloe which is great for highly sensitive skin and works well to cleanse the skin of makeup and other dirt or residue. Rosacea Kit # 2 – Contains six of the best products Skin Rx has to offer for people with Rosacea with Arnica Facial Wash, Willowherb Soothing Serum, Herbal Moisture Crème, Liquid Silk, Aqua Crème for Eyes, and Shammy.

Why do I have oily skin?

Tiffany Holley

Oily skin is a common problem which leads to other skin challenges including blemishes, large pores, blackheads, and of course, the dreaded greasy shine. Oily skin can affect people of all ages, but in general, oily skin is worse in teenage years and tends to dry out as we age. For those who suffer with oily skin and the embarrassing side effects, you may wonder why your skin is this way. Oily skin is caused by several different factors including:
  • Hormone levels (during pregnancy, menopause, teenage years, birth control pills)
  • Certain cosmetics
  • Genes (sorry, oily skin can be hereditary!)
  • Diet
  • Humidity in the air
Some things you can control, like your diet, but other factors, like your genes, you can not control. What you can do to control oily skin, however, is use the right products. Below are some of the recommended products by the estheticians at Skin Rx Clinic: Glycolic Oily Kit: Contains a cleanser, an eye cream, and a lotion which work together to shrink pores, clear away blackheads, and cleanse away excess oil. Acne 3-Step Control System: With a patented 3 Step system made of an Acne Cleansing Gel, an Acne Purifying Tonic, and an Acne and Oil Control Gel, you are just three steps away from clear, clean skin. Come back soon for more tips on how to control oily skin!

Home Remedies For Oily Skin?

Tiffany Holley
It seems that a natural approach to skin care appeals to lots of people, as we have found that there are many, many different recipes for home remedies for oily skin posted all over the internet. Some are crazier than others, but we thought it would be fun and interesting to post some of these “remedies” here for our readers: Lemon – Apparently, you can take the juice of a lemon and just rub it all over your face with a cotton ball. Then just rinse with warm water and pat your face dry. Banana – Some say you can mash up a banana until it is a paste with no lumps, rub it on your face like a mask, leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse. Yogurt – Take some yogurt and massage it all over your face then wipe away with a towel. Remove any remaining yogurt with distilled water. (Pick your favorite flavor, the recipe didn’t call for a specific type of yogurt!) The problem with home remedies is that they are rarely effective and while they are all natural, the benefits of using them does not really compare to products which have been formulated specifically for oily skin by experts in the skin care industry. If you really want a remedy for your oily skin, check out the following products recommended by Skin Rx: Glycolic Oily Skin Kit – A combination of a cleanser, eye cream, and lotion, the Glycolic Oily Skin Kit works to remove excess oil, clear blackheads, revitalize the skin, and shrink pores. Acne 3-Step Control System – Since acne is a big problem for many who deal with oily skin, Skin Rx offers this wonderful 3-Step system which fights acne, reduces excess oil, and clears up acne with anti-bacterial ingredients. Limu Facial Cleanser – For those of you who are looking for a natural remedy for your oily skin, try a facial cleanser like the Limu Facial Cleanser by Skin Rx. This product contains all natural ingredients derived from seaweed and aloe which cleans the skin and stabilizes moisture content without the use of oils or harsh ingredients. Have you tried any home remedies for oily skin or other skin problems? Post a comment to let us know how it worked!
